Smile

Week  7 of our journey into discovering the Techniques in Tim Holtz's Compendium of Curiosities Vol. 2.
This week Linda at StudioL3  has us opening  the book at  page 49 and trying out hand at Brushless Watercolours. The challenge is sponsored by eclectic Paerie
As always I cannot share how I did the background.  The colour is wild honey distress ink, edged with vintage photo.
The stamps I used  are  from Stampers Anonymous, Pink Paisley and Susie Blu for Stampavie, this little lady will become a favourite of mine she was coloured with promarkers.
My first efforts with this technique is on the right. I think I got a bit carried away with the water spray.

Thank you for stopping by to take a look, I realy appreciate your comments.
My next posts will be schedueled, so I may not be able to visit you all for a few days.
I will look forward to catching up later.

Grace for Sugar Creek Hollow

Vintage Fashion is our new  challenge for this week  over at Sugar Creek Hollow.
Please pop over to see what we have all been making, get all the details and we hope you will join us this week.

We are sponsored by the Digi Doodle Shop who are offering a generous voucher to spend in their fabulous store.

I was thrilled to be able to use one of their Vintage images to make this wall hanging.

It all began with an off cut of mountboard 9 inches square, which I covered with a piece of Egyptian cotton.
One of the layers already had music as a background,  to add interest I  used a Stampers Anonymous stamp with clear embossing ink which I brushed with gold  mica powders. I was wanting it  to fade into the background.. The corners were heat embossed adding a few assorted beads while the powder was still hot.
Now for the main image, I named her Grace because she looks quite graceful to me.
I used my favourite colouring method again, watercolours, then  fussy cut , before placing on the picture.
The other additions came from my stash.
Challenges also entered-
Anything but a Card at   The Secret Crafters Saturday Challenge
Add Fabric at   The Craft Room Challenge

Getting Inky.

This is the the frame I altered at  the Craft Workshop on Saturday, which had been organised by my good friend Cazro.
We had a fabulous day with Jill   [Mrs Stampman] who guided us through some amazing techniques to alter this frame.  We were provided with a mirror  available from that well know furniture store, a bag of goodies to use on the frame and a CD to take home so we can refresh our memories on how to use some of the products.
Some of the items  we used were Moonglow shadow inks and Stampendous Frantage products.

To describe everything we did would take a very long time. We painted, stamped, embossed, embellished, got extremely messy and inky. It was amazing to see how everyone's frame looked so different even though we started off with the same things.
Towards the end of the day we made some toppers for cards, I will show you these later'

I decided not to put the mirror back in the frame, instead I have added a some metal pieces into the recess when I got it home..

Thank goodness Mr Stampman brought along  a variety of products we used,  so we could  purchase as well, I am going to be experimenting with these in future. All available from the Stampman on line shop.

Jill I enjoyed every bit of my day, thankyou, it was crafter's heaven, you showed and taught us how to do some amazing things.
Caz, that day out is sure going to take a lot of beating  9.30a.m. to 4.30p.m. of wall to wall crafting bliss.
Challenges
This might just fit  the challenge  at  Rainbow Lady -'Lets get Inky'.

Also the challenge over at Art with no Boundries which I have just found for the first time.
the challenge is Anything Goes/A  Frame of Mind.

Thank you for taking time to visit and leave a comment, I realy appreciate you stopping by.

Calendar- Fat pages

Its been a while since I showed you some of my Calendar fat pages , that I am swapping with a friend who doesn't blog. The size is 4 x 4 inches

This was the front of  April's page, stamped onto canvas with the free stamp from Craft Stamper Magazine. I cannot find the photo of the back,
must have deleted it. The backgrounds were random stamped using a variety of stamps.
The current challenge at Moving Along with the Times is
Keeping it Real, I hope these little rabbits look real.

Front ..                                           Back.

On to May, at least I remembered, to take this photo side by side, before sticking back to back.
The backgrounds are random stamped  and embossed using  an old flower stamp [maker unknown], then highlighted with water colours.
The image of the lady comes from  an www.artisticoutpost.com/Artistic Outpost
set of stamps. I used a black ink so it would stand out from the background.

The May Referral Challenge at the Artistic Outpost blog is Travel. I hope this will be okay for the theme.

Balloons

Our new challenge at Crafty Cardmakers is 'Birthday Balloon Bonanza'. and is hosted by Mynnette, who is celebrating her Birthday this week.
Once again we have two generous sponsors offering two super prizes for the winners.
Di's Digi Downloads

and

The Stampman

My first thoughts about this challenge was that I didn't have any balloon stamps. Then I remembered that maybe one of my Craft C.D.s might be of help. As you can see I ended up making two cards.
For this one I used papers and images   from Popcorn the Bear. Its a simple pyramid card with minimum cutting out.

My OH when taking the photo's thought I had flipped my lid when he saw how' girlie', this one looked. I used the Paintbox Poppets C.D. for all the papers and topper.
Both the CDs are from Crafters Companion, the extras I used were Martha Stewart punches a button and some ribbon.

I hope you will pop over and see the fabulous examples my DT friends made and get all the details.

Thank you for stopping by I always appreciate your comments.

I used  Stampers Anonymous stamps and a clock face mask. The colours are  Victorian Velvet, Wild honey and tumbled glass.
Once again, I cannot say how this evolved. But next time I will be using a different Archival ink to black.

Cities of the World

Cities of the World is the new theme  at Fashionable Stamping Challenges.
It was my turn to choose the theme, little did I realise that my initial title choice would  have us getting our 'thinking caps on,'  big style.
As we are celebrating the Queens Jubilee this year and the Olympics are fast approaching and I live in the U.K.  I am off to London.
Please pop over and see the destinations  that my fabulous  team mates went to  and  get all the details.
Remember we like to see some stamping on your entry.  Also we are looking forward to see where you will be visiting.

The  background  was randomly stamped with a stamp from Chocolate Baroque.
Next  I used a mask of our Union Jack flag  dabbing it with Distress Inks, Broken China and Fired Brick.
The collage stamp of London is from Crafty Individuals, with the other additions coming  from my stash.
The ribbon trim was a real find  last time we were in Yorkshire, I loved the row of Guardsmen.

Sugar Creek Hollow,' Black and White'.

At last I can share some good news, I have been wanting to shout out loud  for a little while, but today I can.
The  fantastic DT over at Sugar Creek Hollow have asked me to join the team. I am truly thrilled and honoured and look forward to the challenges.

So,the new Challenge for  this week over at Sugar Creek Hollow is - Black and White, the only place you can add colour is on the Focal Image.
I made this card using plain black and white cardstock for the layers, the base card is also white.
To trim the corners I used an embossing  corner punch. The die cuts are by Memory Box.
One of the layers is stamped with my favourite old French script stamp, so well used I never put it away.
The main image  is part of a Queens Dresser Drawers stamp, after cutting away some wording etc,  this was  given the splash of colour using watercolours.
I hope you will pop over and see what we have been making,  read all the details and join us this week.

The Queens Tea Party

Had to play with some new papers yesterday, all celebrating the Queens Jubilee.
They came from a craft CD by Debbie Moore.
I can only describe it as a tag with a collage, because all it involved was mainly cutting out.
Some water colour highlights and Vintage Photo distress ink for shading.
The one stamp I used is from an Artistic Outpost set, the cup and saucer, which I am sure will be used lots.
A cup of tea is highly rated here in the UK.
I added a bit of sparkle to the sugar cubes and coming out of the cup for a bit of steam rising up.
Challenges-
The Cheerful Stamp Pad   -Time for the Queens Tea
Simon Says Stamp and Show - A kaleiderscope of colour.

Thank you for stopping by to take a look, I realy appreciate you calling.

Marbled stains

I have been trying the next  Technique Challenge set by Linda at Studio L3
Week3 when we refer to page  46   in Tim Holtz's book, A  Compendium of Curiosities Vol. 2, to find out how to  do Marbled Stains.
This weeks challenge is being sponsered by Electicpaporie

Following the rules I cannot explain how I made the background.

Using a background  piece that I made, I  stamped  this topper  with  Studio 490 stamps , trimming   with a few small pieces of left overs from other projects,  that were in my bits box.

Thank you for stopping by, your comments are always appreciated.
